A Big Weekend in Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs take it Home Against the Philadelphia Eagles!

A match gearing up to be one of the Best Superbowls that took place these last few years materialized Sunday, Feb. 12th. The battle between Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts both star Quarterbacks that lead their teams to victory.

Counting On Mahomes when it Matters:

It was a rough first half for Mahomes and coordinating this Chiefs Offense. Mostly part because the defense was falling apart early in the game which led to many pass rushes and incomplete passes. After the Eagles go up 10 points early in the half it seems as if Mahomes sustained a minor injury in rolling his ankle. He had time to rest during the halftime show and was set to make a fast return for the next half.

Rihanna Halftime Show Flop??

Many have enjoyed the music of Music Legend Rihanna and were surprised while excited to hear that she would be the headliner for the Superbowl Halftime Show. She has been out of the music industry for some years now and speculates that she won't be the same Rihanna as before. She then went on to perform fine and one can say the voice came to her like muscle memory and was there like it never left.

One thing many didn't like was her performance while pregnant. Now I say as long as she isn't doing any baby-threatening moves then she is fine to perform but if she tries to continue

while jeopardizing the baby then it would be bad. She went on to perform “Better Have My Money” and naturally carried the crowd and performed well.

Eagles Star-Like Performance:

The Eagles led by Jalen Hurts put up a historic run in the playoffs all the way to the Superbowl. He set a Quarterback Rushing Record with 70 yards on 15 carries with three Touchdowns, joining greats like Hall of Famer running back Terrel Davis as the only of three players to do it. Also adding on with completing 27-of-38 passing completions racking up 304 passing yards and a score. He willed his team into typing the game 35-35 and would have to endure the final possessions from the Chiefs.

The Game-Winning Field Goal:

The Chiefs survive by only allowing the Eagles to tie the game and not get ahead. The Chiefs advance the ball all the way into their 27th-yard line and were within striking distance. With only 8 seconds left on the clock, the Chiefs decide to do a field goal and go to Star Kicker Harrison Butker. Butker lines up the drive and kicks the ball perfectly down the middle of the netting and giving the Chiefs a 3-point leading ending the quarter off. The score now solidified at 38-35 the Chiefs beat the Eagles and a narrow manner. One could say it could have been the Eagles and the Chiefs got lucky but one thing is for sure the Chiefs won the game and the Superbowl bragging rights belong to Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Fight of the Year In Volkanowski vs Islam, many say it was a robbery or a bad call from the Judges.

A grudge match that has been brewing up for months finally took place this last week Feb. 11th. The Super Match between Khabib Normagomenov pupil in Islam Makhachev vs the Pound For Pound Best Fighter in Alexander Volkanowski.

An Explosive Start:

The fight started just as many thought it would be fast-paced and action-packed. This is the fight in which Islam gets to truly prove his skills against the best in the world and that he did. He starts the round by adjusting to Volks range and lightning-fast jab. Where Islam quickly finds his mark by connecting a straight right punch that stunned the Champion and dropped him momentarily, which was led by a flurry of punches and a kick to the head that landed clean on the head. Volk quickly gathered his senses and survived the round.

Has Volk Regained his Senses?:

After a tough ending to the first round, Volk now finds himself in a place where he has never been tested and must win this round to not fall behind 2-0 on the scorecard. Just like that, he starts by throwing in feints and jabs that seem like they can't miss and connecting with every part of Islams' face, even leaving a nasty bruise under his eye a minute into the second round. The tide seems to be turning and turning it did Volk connects on a nice jab hook combination and wobbles the Defending Champion.

Islam quickly wraps Volk up to recover from the barrage of combinations that just connected with him. He bear hugs him much like the training style the Dagestanis In Khabibs Camp practice to get control time and score points in the round or to even recover. That which he did and for the remainder of the 2 minutes he took his back and never let go.

Quickly in the Third Round, Volk learns from his mistake in pressing Islam too hard and letting the fight get to the ground where the Dagestani Wrestler thrives in. Volk manages his distances and racks up the significant strikes against his counterpart. He got tested two more times in takedowns where Islam shoots for Volks legs and grabs a hold of him. Volk is once again tested with superior grappling skills and tested well. Scrambling for a position on the floor Volk defended well and got up quickly and met him with a flurry of combos. Ending the 3rd round in style Volk outclassed Islam in defense and striking altogether that round.

The Unfortunate 4th Round:

The 4th round started just as fast and punch-packed as the last round where Volk comes out punching hard. He came out landing a clean right hook across his chin and stunning him to the floor. Where Islam uses his wrestling and gets his back position to recover. Many say this was a fluke round because Islam was said to just waste time and abuse Control Time points to win the round when it really was to recover from the damage he sustained. For the remainder of 4 minutes, he stayed clinging to Volks back and did little to nothing of damage.

During the break time, Volks Corner told him that he had to go all out and finish the fight this last round because the score is tied 2-2 with the judges. Volk prompted to starting the round off fast and punching hard, to where he opened up a cut over the right eye of Islams face with a Jab. This round for the most part was spent on the feet throwing

punches and kicks, Islam was slowing down and Volk picked up the tempo, landing punch after punch to stunning him yet again and dropping him to the floor. He soon then assumes position and starts throwing sledgehammer punches that are landing ferociously. He has 30 seconds to end the fight and solidify his spot as Double Champ. The clock wears out and Islam is still moving around. Does this mean defeat for Volk or did he score enough points to pull it off?

The referee brings in both Champions and reads the following, the first two judges scored 1 apiece to them and it was all on the tiebreaker vote, the vote was in and Islams hand was raised, and defended his belt at the Lightweight Division..

What Does This Mean for the Future?

Both have expressed interest in a rematch that many fans believe Volkanowski had won the fight and outscored him 3-2 in the rounds. They will go on a break now after a long training camp and tough fight and spend time with their families. There is talk of a fight being rescheduled between them some time by the end of the year, hopefully, they stay healthy and make a series between Two Great Fighters!
