• Over 2 million Coronavirus tests have been completed in the U.S.

• The Global Coronavirus death toll surpasses 100,000.

• Apple and Google are working on setting up a coronavirus tracking system into IOS and Android.

• As of Friday, April 10, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1,623,130. There are now 16,826 cases of the Coronavirus in Florida. 371 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• New York State has more coronavirus cases than any other country.

• The Defense Secretary says another 300 military personnel will deploy to help NYC hospitals.

• Masks are now a requirement in Delray Beach.

• Publix implementing one-way aisles for social distancing.

April 9, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Delta airlines has stopped selling tickets for middle row seats to diminish the spread of coronavirus.

• The second coronavirus vaccine trial begins in Kansas City, MO.

• U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is moved out of the intensive care unit.

• 799 new deaths in New York. The highest amount of new deaths so far.

• As of Thursday, April 9, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1,535,838. There are now 15,698 cases of the Coronavirus in Florida. 323 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• 6.6 million people in the US filed for unemployment last week.

• FIU donates over two dozen ventilators to aid coronavirus efforts.

• 100 American Airlines flight attendants test positive for COVID-19.

April 8, 2020:

6:00 PM

• City of Miami orders all residents and workers to wear masks inside stores, pharmacies and construction sites.

• The Cook County Jail in Chicago is now the largest known source of U.S. virus infections.

• The CDC is considering letting some Americans go back to work.

• As of Wednesday, April 8, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1,448,234. There are now 14,747 cases of the Coronavirus in Florida. 296 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• FIU to open COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at fairgrounds.

• China ended the 76-day lockdown on Wuhan.

• CDC weighs loosening guidelines for some exposed to virus.

April 7, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Miami Beach convention center will be used for hospital overflow of patients.

• Coronavirus death toll in France surpasses 10,000.

• New York records the largest number of deaths in a day.

• Plasma treatments from recovered patients are being tested in New York.

• As of Tuesday, April 7, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1,363,123. There are now 13,629 cases of the Coronavirus in Florida. 254 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• Miami Beach requires workers and customers to wear face masks.

• 2 ICE employees in Miami test positive for COVID-19.

• South Florida gets mobile morgues, even as hospitals aren’t overwhelmed yet.

• Weston Mayor Daniel J. Stermer has tested positive for COVID-19.

April 6, 2020:

6:00 PM

• British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved into the intensive care unit as he battles Coronavirus.

• Total of COVID-19 cases in Florida surpass 13,300 with over 230 deaths.

• The Department of Transportation has ordered airlines to issue refunds for flights canceled due to Coronavirus.

• Brett Giroir, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services assistant secretary, warns Americans that this will be the "peak week" of the coronavirus outbreak for some states and cities.

• As of Monday, April 6, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1,288,474. There are now 12,350 cases of the Coronavirus in Florida. 221 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• Palm Beach and Broward County each lost a deputy from Coronavirus. Sgt. Jose Diaz Ayala and Deputy Shannon Bennett.

• A tiger at NYC’s Bronx Zoo has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the first animal to test positive in the U.S.

April 3, 2020:

6:00 PM

• CDC recommends Americans to wear non-medical masks when leaving their homes.

• Miami-Dade has over 3,000 positive Coronavirus cases. State-wide total reaches 10,000.

• Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is the first COVID-19 plasma donor.

10:00 AM

• As of Friday, April 3, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 1,039,922. There are now 9,008 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 144 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• The US economy lost 701,000 jobs in March, the worst report since 2009.

• N95 manufacturer says they’re making as many masks as possible for the US.

• Two cruise ships have docked at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, with guests and crew members demonstrating flu-like symptoms.

April 2, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Number of Coronavirus cases worldwide surpasses 1 million.

• Miami-Dade mayor orders all adult day cares to close Friday.

• 231 inmates and 223 staff members in NYC jails test positive for Covid-19.

• A Russian military transport plane filled with coronavirus medical gear lands in the U.S. after Trump-Putin call.

• As of Thursday, April 2, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 961,448. There are now 7,773 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 101 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• Nearly 96% of the US population is under a stay-at-home or shelter-in-place order.

• 6.6 million people in the US have filed for unemployment so far.

• Experts tell White House Coronavirus can spread through talking or even just breathing.

April 1, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Beginning at midnight, the Cuban government will suspend all international flights to and from the island.

• There are now more than 200,000 Coronavirus cases in the U.S.

• Florida governor Ron DeSantis issues a state-wide stay at home order, which will be going into effect midnight Thursday.

• Over 2,000 Covid-19 deaths in New York.

• As of Wednesday, April 1, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 882,751. There are now 6,741 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 85 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• White House predicts 100,000 to 240,000 will die in US from coronavirus.

• Walmart to begin taking employees’ temperatures.

• Hawaii governor orders mandatory quarantine for people traveling between islands.

March 31, 2020:

6:00 PM

• The amount of Coronavirus cases in Miami-Dade has surpassed 2,000.

• Spirit Airlines has suspended flights to New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

• Florida Department of Education announces all K-12 schools will remain closed until May 1st.

• COVID-19 cases in New York surpass 75,000. U.S. Open Tennis courts are being used as temporary hospitals.

• As of Tuesday, March 31, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 803,547. There are now 5,704 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 71 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• Governor DeSantis allows retired first responders and healthcare workers to return to the workforce.

• Virginians ordered to stay home until June 10, per Governor orders.

• Navy hospital ship with 1,000 beds arrives in New York City harbor.

March 30, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Jackson Health System President and CEO tests positive for COVID-19.

• 1,590 new recoveries in Italy. This is the highest number of recoveries in one day since the beginning of the pandemic.

• FPL plans issue a one-time discount of nearly 25% for the typical residential customer bill beginning May 1st.

• Doctors predict up to 200,000 American deaths in the next few weeks.

• As of Monday, March 30, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 739,367. There are now 4,950 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 60 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• Trump adds 30 days to distancing guidelines as virus spreads.

• More than 340,000 residents sign petition asking Governor DeSantis to ‘Shut down Florida’ amid pandemic.

• The Treasury Secretary suggests there could be hazard pay for first responders.

• Jackson Memorial Hospital ICU nurse dies from Coronavirus.

March 27, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Miami-Dade County reports first Coronavirus death.

• The U.S. now has over 100,000 COVID-19 cases.

• U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson tests positive for Coronavirus.

• Four guests on a Holland America cruise line have died as the ship was on its way towards Florida.

10:00 AM

• As of Friday, March 27, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 552,626. There are now 2,484 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 29 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• The US leads the world in the number of COVID-19 cases, surpassing China.

• Boca Raton issues stay-at-home order effective Saturday.

• About 40 Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies quarantined for possible exposure to coronavirus.

March 26, 2020:

6:00 PM

• A Margate doctor has become the first medical professional to die from Coronavirus in South Florida.

• Miami-Dade County and Broward County now under shelter in place orders.

• The Coronavirus death toll in the U.S. has surpassed 1,000.

• 67 new cases, 6 new deaths, and 401 new discharges in China, as reported by the National Health Commission (NHC) of China.

• As of Thursday, March 26, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 491,150. There are now 1,977 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 23 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• US jobless claims hit 3.3 million, quadruple previous record.

• The City of Miami imposes a curfew that will start Friday and will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time.

• US stocks open higher despite the worst jobless claims data in history.

March 25, 2020:

6:00 PM

• President Trump approves Florida Disaster Declaration.

• Spain’s Coronavirus death toll has overtaken China’s with 3,434 deaths in total.

• Prince Charles of Wales tests positive for Coronavirus.

10:00 AM

• As of Wednesday, March 25, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 438,717. There are now 1,467 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 20 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• US lawmakers agreed on a $2 trillion stimulus package.

• A drive-thru testing site for COVID-19 is set to open at Marlins Park in Miami today.

• Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez orders all public buildings to limit capacity to 10.

March 24, 2020:

6:00 PM

• L.A. county has reported the first death of a coronavirus patient under 18 years old.

• White House officials advise people who have left the New York City recently to self quarantine for 14 days.

• Florida Governor DeSantis asks Trump to declare Florida major disaster as the death toll increases.

• Miami-Dade Youth fair grounds will be used as a makeshift hospital to aid Covid-19 cases.

• As of Tuesday, March 24, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 395,579. There are now 1,227 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 17 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• Miami Beach issues stay-at-home order amid COVID-19 pandemic.

• Tokyo Summer Olympics are postponed for about a year.

• Governor DeSantis orders New York travelers arriving on flights to quarantine.

March 23, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Miami Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez has ordered the closure of all boat ramps and marinas.

• U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson orders nationwide lockdown.

• U.S. stocks drop after the Senate’s second coronavirus bill fail.

• Miami-Dade transit fares have been suspended.

• As of Monday, March 23, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 353,272. There are now 1,007 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. 13 people in Florida have died of the virus.

• FDA approves new test that could detect coronavirus in about 45 minutes.

• All Florida State Parks will be closed off to the public starting Monday, March 23.

• NYC’s mayor said hospitals have enough supplies to get through this week only.

• US stocks open lower, despite Fed’s stimulus.

March 20, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Over 400 people have been tested at the newly opened Coronavirus site in Broward.

• Connecticut, Illinois, and New York among other states have ordered nonessential workers to stay home.

• President Trump announces restriction of nonessential travel between the U.S. and Mexico.

• Federal student loan payments will be suspended without interest for two months.

• As of Friday, March 20, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 254,801. There are now 432 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. Nine people in Florida have died from the virus.

• Miami mayor encourages public to shelter-in-place.

• Broward schools distribute devices to facilitate remote learning for students.

• New York City is expected to run out of medical supplies in 2 to 3 weeks, according to officials.

• US stocks open higher.

March 19, 2020:

6:00 PM

• Italy’s death toll has now surpassed China’s, becoming the country with the highest amount of coronavirus deaths.

• All Miami-Dade beaches have been ordered to close.

• Prince Albert II of Monaco has tested positive for Covid-19.

• 643 new cases and 49 new deaths have been reported in the United Kingdom.

• As of Thursday, March 19, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 227,679. There are now 328 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. Eight people in Florida have died of the disease.

• The US now has more than 8,000 cases and close to 150 deaths.

• 80% of COVID-19 related deaths in the US are among adults 65 and older.

• The US government is preparing for a Coronavirus pandemic that could last up to 18 months.

• The CDC suggests live-streaming funerals to reduce crowds during coronavirus pandemic.

• The pandemic began in China. Today, it reported no new local infections for the first time.

March 18, 2020:

6:00 PM

• US - Canada border to temporarily close to nonessential travel.

• All foreclosures and evictions in the U.S. to be suspended until the end of April.

• Senate passes coronavirus package. The Treasury department unveiled a plan for $250 billion in direct payments for Americans beginning April 6th.

10:00 AM

• As of Wednesday, March 18, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 204,832. There are now 216 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. Seven people in Florida have died of the disease.

• The University of Miami has one person test positive for COVID-19.

• US surgeon general warns of continuing blood shortages.

• States are ordering people to stay home and deploying the National Guard as US cases skyrocket.

March 17, 2020:

6:00 PM

• 1560 new cases and 17 new deaths in the United States.

• FIU staff member has tested positive for coronavirus.

• Florida universities will continue remote learning through the end of the Spring semester as suggested by Governor Desantis.

• All restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters and bowling alleys in Miami-Dade will be closing tonight at 11pm until further notice.

• As of Tuesday, March 17, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 188,388. There are now 160 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. Five people in Florida have died of the disease.

• Florida primary still on even as other states postpone over Coronavirus.

• Stock plunge on Wall Street, White House see recession risk.

• AMC Theatre's close during the coronavirus pandemic.

• Europe is experiencing “critical shortages” in medical supplies.

March 16, 2020:

7:00 PM

• President Trump has released new guidelines for the next 15 days to slow coronavirus spread including, staying home and working from home if possible, avoiding non-essential contacts with others and non-essential travel, and keeping social gatherings to 10 people or less.

• Canada shuts its borders to all foreign nationals except U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urges people to stay at home.

• 3233 new cases and 349 new deaths in Italy.

• The Hard Rock Stadium’s parking lot will be used as a COVID-19 testing center.

• As of Monday, March 16, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 174,134. There are now 149 cases of the coronavirus in Florida. Four people in Florida have died of the disease.

• Coronavirus vaccine trial is said to start today with the first participant receiving an experimental dose.

• Cruise ships return to South Florida ports as travel suspension goes into effect.

• Nike, Urban Outfitters, and other retailers are shutting stores temporarily to prevent the virus from spreading.

• Kennedy Space Center closes in response to Coronavirus outbreak.

March 13, 2020:

6:00 PM

• President Trump has declared a national emergency.

• Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Pakistan amount to other countries closing off their borders, shutting down travel.

• 1st case confirmed in Kenya and Ethiopia.

• 15 new cases in Florida.

• All Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be closed starting Monday.

• As of Friday, March 13, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 139,005. In Florida, 15 new cases have been reported.

• First 2 Coronavirus cases confirmed in Palm Beach County, both men in their 70s.

• Disney World has come to a halt in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.

• President Trump’s administration announced today it is awarding $1.3 million to two companies trying to develop rapid COVID-19 tests to detect if a person is infected with Coronavirus.

• Stocks open sharply higher on Wall Street a day after fears about the impact of the Coronavirus led to the market’s worst fall since 1987.

March 12, 2020:

6:00 PM

• France, Israel, Greece, and Turkey added to the list of counties closing schools down.

• New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio states the amount of cases in the city is projected to rise to 1,000 by next week.

• Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks will be closing beginning Saturday until the end of the month.

• 4 more cases have been announced in Florida for a total of 35.

• Miami-Dade County Youth Fair has been postponed until further notice.

12:30 PM

• As of Thursday, March 12, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 130,156. In Florida, a total of 31 cases have been reported.

• Passengers who arrived at Palm Beach International Airport from New York test positive to Coronavirus.

• Miami-Dade County to suspend all mass gatherings following Mayor’s orders.

• US stocks plummet for the second day straight.

• Major league soccer suspends games for the next 30-days.

March 11, 2020:

• World Health Organization declares the Coronavirus outbreak as a global ‘pandemic.’

• President Trump places a 30-day ban on travel to, and from Europe.

• The State University System of Florida declared that all schools would transition into online learning due to the Coronavirus Pandemic

• American Actor Tom Hanks announced that he and his wife have Coronavirus.

• NBA suspends season until further notice after player tests positive to Coronavirus.

March 10, 2020:

• As of Tuesday, March 10, 2020 the total number of Coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 116,399.

• The newest additions to the list of countries affected are Panama and Magnolia.

• 1 new case has been reported in Florida. A 60-year-old female located in Volusia County who previously traveled is now being kept isolated.
