Manuela Gomez is a 22-year-old upcoming singer whose dream is to have a platform where she can make an impact with her singing and also assist others in accomplishing beneficial things for the world, such as bringing awareness to animals, climate change, and wildlife and reserves.
Gomez has been singing since she can remember. Music was a natural part of her life while growing up. She was influenced by her artistically inclined parents and the constant music playing around her. Since the early days of her life, she’s been exposed to record players, cassette players, CD players, Walkmans, and much more.
Every person has artists they deeply admire and inspire their style. Harry Styles is an artist that directly correlates to her personal style and music taste. Her ultimate aim is to have a powerful voice like Rihanna, Hayley Williams, and Billie Eilish.
“I also look up to Brockhampton’s versatility in their music because I don’t label my tastes as one single genre,” Gomez said.
Gomez knew music was a big part of her identity but never saw it as anything more. It wasn’t until a year and a half ago when she realized this is what she’s meant to do for the rest of her life.
“I decided to start taking vocal lessons to reinforce my voice and because I also felt that there’s always room for improvement,” she said.
Throughout the past year, Gomez has thought about the several factors and experiences that go into this journey, such as her stage name, future projects, and YouTube. After careful thought, she came up with “MNU” as her stage name.
“This idea came from my current job’s manager, Tim, who couldn’t properly pronounce my lifetime nickname “Manu” and simply said it without the letter A,” Gomez said.
YouTube plays an important role in Gomez’s journey. It’s something she’s been wanting to do since the very beginning but didn’t want to start until she had the right first video to upload. One of the current projects she’s working on is recording a cover of Harry Styles’ song “She” and filming a music video for it.
“I came up with the concept, wardrobe, makeup, and set design,” Gomez said. “I see YouTube as a way to showcase all of my talents and expose myself to an audience and other creatives that may be interested in my work and music.”
Gomez’s career goals for the future not only include being a singer but also being recognized for her achievements, projects, and ideas, and having a space to give others the opportunity to positively impact and change the world around us. She looks up to Megan Thee Stallion and her previous Santa Monica Pier beach clean-up event with her fans. It’s an amazing way to use your power to connect and inspire fans to help the planet we call our home. Gomez’s main goal is to encourage people to focus on the things that matter and help one another.
“I’m excited to collaborate and meet with other artists in the music industry that are going to help me grow and learn more about myself,” Gomez said. “I’m aware that I’m new to the industry and still a beginner, but I’m ready to tackle down any obstacles that come my way.”
Gomez is a perfectionist when it comes to her projects since it’s what truly reflects her as a person and artist. Overall, she’s excited to broaden her social circle and shadow over professionals that will enhance her knowledge of the industry. Artists helping each other is a critical part of the success and authenticity of their character.
One of the most important things Gomez wants the future her to always remember is to stay humble, keep her head up, and never negatively change. The insignificant and meaningless things aren’t worth it in the end. Despite all the worries and flaws, she believes she should always be grateful with where she’s at, who she has around, and what she’s done because it’s central to her journey’s purpose.
