Miami Bites: Lagniappe House

Photograph: Courtesy Lagniappe

When we think about dining out in Miami, we usually assume that it will be somewhere fancy and pricey. Lagniappe House is a Cozy New Orleans-style wine bar with shabby-chic decor supplying barbecue & live music nightly in the heart of Wynwood, Miami. After a friend suggested we should go to this place I have been back plenty of times and tried their dishes, drinks and listened to different talented musicians so I will be reviewing my experience.

Starting with the ambiance, when you first go in, it looks like someone’s aunt living room but here is a bar and a small stage with live music. It is very cozy and nice to hang out in. When you go through this room, there is a very spacious backyard. All the tables and chairs are different colors, shapes and sizes which gives a vintage and effortless look to the place. There are yellow string lights hanging from the trees that light up the place just right. There is no service on the tables, each person must go to the bar/kitchen, make their order and take it back to their tables. There are no reservations, and anyone can sit wherever they like to.

Speaking of the food they offer great grilled basics with an assortment of cheeses and charcuterie. They offer an amazing Churrasco ($27), Choripan ($12), Fresh wild caught fish like Mahi and Salmon ($24), Barbecue Chicken ($19), and plenty of sides like fries, sweet potatoes, salads. and salted veggies ($4-$7).

The prices are very reasonable considering the sizes of the meals, the quality and compared to all the restaurants in the area. Lagniappe takes pride in their amazing selection of wines and craft beers. It was even called “Miami’s best beer and Wine Spot” by the Miami New Times. They offer a variety of Malbecs, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Rose, Pinot Grigio, Prosecco, Moscato, Cabernet, and Riesling. The prices of the glasses go from $8 to $13 maximum. You can also order the bottle which will be more convenient if you are in a big group or plan on having more than three glasses. They also offer corkage with a $20 fee.

If you are looking for a low maintenance, chill plan with your friends or family, look nowhere else, this is the place to go. Lagniappe House is most definitely a hidden gem. It is different from the classic Miami dining experience, and you won’t spend hundreds of dollars for having a little fun. I give this place a solid 9.5/10 because of their amazing food, drinks, environment, and cool vibes. The missing 0.5 is because more and more people are discovering it, so it is becoming a little harder to find a seat quickly. I wish I could gatekeep this amazing place, but I am happy they are being given the recognition they deserve. I recommend going on weekdays so it will not be as busy, but the vibes will still be amazing.
