Actor, writer, producer, Seth Rogen, has added another title to his long resume, and that is co-founder of a weed company. Houseplant, the Canadian cannabis company co-founded by Rogen and his production partner Evan Goldberg, officially launched in the United States. This marked a wide-scale launch for the brand, which began in Canada in 2019. The news was shared by Seth Rogen through his Twitter, where he stated that he had been working on this project for the last 10 years:
The centerpiece of the project are the strains of weed that are available for sale, which are indica, sativa, and hybrid strains, that come in aesthetically pleasing stackable tins. Everything about the weed was curated and chosen by Rogen himself who described that they would be providing “the best strains of weed, that have been hand-picked, and by that I mean hand smoked by me.”
Houseplant is not the traditional cannabis company, as it tries to blend together Rogen’s favorite strains of weed, with an unconventional line of house goods. The actor who has become famous for his interest in ceramics, helped design the decor with the thought of providing a certain sense of style for the weed smoker. Houseplant created an ashtray that was shown off in a Twitter video by Rogen, who created the initial design for it in his garage over the course of four days.
Additionally, they created a tabletop lighter that brings a retro look to one's home, but most importantly will help with people who lose their lighters, just like Rogen.
The close attention to detail showcases the labor of love that has been put into this project, ensuring that Houseplant will be a household name in the cannabis industry for many years to come. It is clear that the news of the launch was well received by the public, as the Houseplant website quickly crashed after the initial news of the United States launch was shared.
For the time being the weed will only be available for physical purchasing in select California cannabis dispensaries, but the majority of sales will be done online through their website, which officially launches on March 11th. Unfortunately, for those eagerly awaiting to try some of Houseplant’s products, they will need to be in a state where recreational marijuana is legal, in order to purchase. But, with the weed laws in America changing, the company could potentially see expansion in the future.
