On Monday, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava of Miami-Dade County announced that the curfew that was first imposed by former mayor Carlos Gimenez back in July because of the surge in COVID-19 cases, would be lifted on April 12th. At first, the curfew began at 10pm, but as cases began to diminish it was moved to midnight.
Levine Cava said that the curfew will end on April 12 at 12:01am in Miami-Dade, which is the only county in Florida that still imposed COVID-19 related curfew. This will allow businesses to function after 12am and begin slowly returning back to normal.
This announcement was also made at the same time as Florida opening vaccinations to all adults across the state. The county is still requiring businesses to comply with mask requirements, provide hand sanitizer, keep social distancing and ensure sick employees do not go to work.
Some Guidelines will remain the same, including the mask requirement and social distancing. Public gatherings of 10 or more people are still not allowed unless people are socially distant. An executive order signed by Levine Cava also does not require a negative covid test in order to return to work, rather they can return 10 days after the positive test if they have no symptoms.
Many business owners have hoped that now that the vaccine is now available to all adults in the State of Florida that normal life can soon return.
