Chadwick Boseman: first actor ever to receive 4 nominations in the SAG Awards

The well-known actor Chadwick Boseman who sadly passed away in August of last year, at age 43, setting a record Mr. Boseman was the first actor ever to received 4 nominations in a single edition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards).

The Black Panther star was nominated for two movies; the first nomination is for his lead role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom; and for his supporting role in Da 5 Bloods, he is also included in the full cast nomination in both movies. The full cast nomination, or who they call “the cast honors,” are the SAG’s Awards closest comparison on the Academy Award’s best picture nomination.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is based on the August Wilson play starring Viola Davis, as the title character and blues singer Ma Rainey, and Boseman playing the trumpeter, Levee Green. Da 5 Bloods is about four elderly or aging Vietnam War veterans who return there searching for a precious treasure they left behind and find the remains of their squad leader played by Bosman in some flashback scenes.
